Combat climate change through technology

TCM nominated to Best stand at ONS

TCM was nominated to the Best Stand of ONS among 1351 exhibitors at the massive oil conference in Stavanger on August 24-27.

"Creative and focused presentation of the carbon capture process. Clear environmental profile," said the jury about the TCM stand at ONS.

- We are very happy to be among the top ten stands at ONS. We're here for the first time, and this nomination contributed to draw attention to our stand here, says Vegar Stokset, Head of Communications.

ONS 2010 drew a record breaking crowd of 47 000 visitors, and for the first time there was a dedicated area for exhibitors from the field of Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS).

- It is important that the world knows about our Technology Centre which is the world's largest facility for testing and improving CO2 capture, and at ONS we could reach a lot of our important stakeholders, says Stokset.

Currently under construction at Mongstad on the west coast of Norway, the TCM project will begin demonstrating capture technologies in early 2012.

Testing two different types of capture technologies from two different sources of CO2 will allow for a high degree of flexibility in the test programmes. The knowledge gained at TCM will be relevant for both retrofit and new build plants from a variety of flue gas sources including: coal and natural gas power production, as well as other industrial sources, and therefore be very relevant for international deployment,

TCM is a joint venture between the Norwegian state, Statoil, Shell and Sasol, and the main technology providers are Aker Clean Carbon and Alstom.

Sixsides was the supplier of TCMs ONS stand.
